     Since I am the other Tiburon of the group, I figured I will make this thread as my continuing workings on my car.

First up are two photos taken by the photographer at this past weeks Best Buy meet in Moorestown:

These will be my base pics for the exterior to compare what the car will look like when I'm all done in spring with the work I want to get done to the car before the shows kick off again for '09.

As for the projects I currently have in the works at the moment:

1.  I just bought a pair of used (look new to me) stock rear tail lights.  I'm getting them tinted like Tom's, but with a slight twist to them (I can't completely copy off of him  Grin )  Also will be trying out some new 20-led tower lights for the parking/brake lights on the tails to see if they are brighter then regular incadesent lights.  My hope is that the three coats of tint will look just as good as Tom's, but at the same time with the 20-led towers will be brighter so even while they're tinted they will be as bright as if completely stock when the lights are activated.

2.  I also just ordered the same BROS gauges that Tom has, except in blue instead of red.  Again I can't completely copy from him and thankfully he has a red color scheme to his car while I have a blue scheme to mine.  Also I'm getting sick of the reverse glow gauge faces I have now and it's time for a change.

3.  I just got a deal from another rdtiburon.com member for a "used" but never used pholenic spacer for my intake.  This will most likely take 2 hours to install one of these weekends.  The whole kit from the manufacturer also comes with a throttle body spacer but he actually used that on his previous tiburon and forgot to take it off.  No matter since I already have the coolant lines to the TB disconnected so having a spacer there is a moot point.

4.  As for the stereo, I recently got a dual double din dvd receiver.  I already have the radio installed, and sounds tons better then the single din JVC exad radio that came with the car when I bought it.  What I still have to do though is modify the dash surround so I can reinstall it as the surround was only meant to fit a single din.  Our tiburons did have a factory option for a double din radio, but even if I had the surround from that option, it would still have to be modified a little as Hyundai decided to use a propeitary size for double din radios.  No biggie.  An hour or two with a dremel and a repaint of the surround will fix that problem.

5.  The last mod for right now is to finish up all the blue led's in the interior of the car.  Actually I really haven't got that far with them as of yet due to working way too many hours lately.  I bought a spare pair of drivers/passengers window switches for $15 off of another rdtiburon.com member and have done the blue led swap to them already but they are still sitting on my table in the apt.  I will install tem when I get around to pulling the door panels off.  While I have them off I want to put led's around each door speaker and the storage compartment on each door so I'll kill two birds with one led.  haha.  At the same time I will also be putting blue led's around the back 6x9's and also around the grille for the 10" sub I have in the trunk so it has continuity throughout the car.  Last would be to pull the dash apart to do the mod in #3 and at the same time change all of the leds/blulbs in the dash from factory green to blue.

Come spring time I will most likely be getting some stuff on the car powder coated to add to the exterior.  That's it for now.

A pholenic spacer goes between the head and the intake manifold.  It is meant to keep heat from transferring from the head into the intake manifold resulting in a colder air charge.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas.  I have been busy with work and have got a little done to the tib so far.  As of earlier tonight I finally got the dash back together and finished the blue led conversion on the dash.  Let me just say that it was a royal PITA but i love the results.  I will hopefully take pics of the final setup within the next week to show everyone.  The doors and speakers are next, but I'm taking a break from the led's for a week or two before i delve into part two of the led project.

On a side note I got myself a new camera for Christmas, and I was playing with making HDR images tonight.  I posted up one photo in my gallery just to show it off after washing it earlier tonight.

Ok, is everyone frozen and had enough of old man winter yet?  I sure have.

As for the continuing projects on the car, here is what I have completed thus far:

     1. Pholenic spacer install - They say 3-5% increase of power, and I would say they are right to state that.  After installing the spacer, the engine was alot more responsive then before, and I can break the wheels free on a 2nd shift much more easily now.  I Installed it over my girlfriends house over in Doylestown, PA, and when I drove home that evening I touched the intake manifold when I got home and it was barely even warm to the touch.  Before the install it would be at least 150'F in winter, so the colder/denser air charge is definitely having a positive impact on performance.

     2. LED's - I finished the blue led swap for the whole dashboard lights and switches.  It took about a total of 10 hours to get everything wired and soldered correctly.  I have yet to tackle the doors and speaker grills to finish up this project.  I need an indian summer to be willing to work on this, but then again no rush as the first car show that I plan on attending isn't until early April (streetwars 5).

     3. BROS gauges - this didn't pan out for me at all.  They only had the red ones that tom has in stock, and had no clue when/if they would ever get the blue gauge faces in stock, so as of right now this is canceled.

     4. 20 led towers - These were supposed to be for the rear brake lights.  I tried them out as soon as I got my tinted tail light housing back from Jay.  The tinting job he did was great, but the led's we just as bright as regular bulbs, and had problems working in the bulb sockets.  So in the trash they went.  So for anyone thinking of buying led swap bulbs for their brake/turn signals, save you money and use it elsewhere on your car.

     5. Rear Strut Bar - I should have this in the mail by this Friday.  I got lucky and happened to catch a used one on rdtiburon.com in time, as these are hard to find anymore for my vintage of tiburon.  I'm hoping it will help me better control the car in autocross, as I have learned that my car will never be a 1/4 mile car, and is much more suited to autocross.  I do have to say that the already installed front strut bar did wonders for front stability.

Last but no least, I went with some friends from Tristatetuners to the first of 4 winter sessions of autocross set up by phillyscca.com.  It was a blast as I think I'm already hooked on this.  Here is a video of me running.  I'm the second car running.

The Trans Am is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
It maketh me burnout on black pavements;
It leadeth me beside busy freeways;
It restoreth my soul;
It leads me in the path of quickness for its names sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of rice, I shall fear no turbo,
For torque art with me;
Thy rod and thy piston they comfort me.
Thou preparest a track for me
In the presence of my enemies;
Thou hast anointed my bearings with oil;
My car overpowers.
Surely traction and victory shall follow me,
All the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of the V8,
Forever...

More Pics!!!!!

Tom - I'm going to contact the person who took the video and see if I can get the raw footage of me running.  Here are the photos I was telling you about earlier today.  I will work on the other part tomorrow as work was too long and draining today.

As for being faster then the neon, that's not a neon.  It's a srt-4, and our times were actually within a second of each other.  So I'm happy that I could compete with a turbocharged neon in my little hyundai.  And I swear I was running on 3 wheels most of the day the way I was taking turns.
